Jam Today – and jams tomorrow!

The Telegraph and Argus have an article (here) about the plans Bradford Council are drawing up in case a  sledgehammer is taken to the Local Transport Plan to help reduce government spending.

This however is surely the wrong thing to be doing in the long-term interests of Bradford and the wider “City Region”.

BRUG’s immediate worry is surely that of the funding for Low Moor railway station.

Is Bradford Council drawing up plans to request more money as well? – Just in case an idea they suggest that might actually resonate with the Department of Transport and they think “Actually that is a good idea, let’s fund it”.

Rail Magazine: Bradford Cross Rail & Neville Hill Accident

Bradford cross rail plans have been published in the latest copy of Rail magazine (issue 632, page 12).

Also on page 12 are photos of the accident in Neville Hill, East of Leeds, that caused so much disruption to the network on November 17th.

Gerry Sutcliffe, getting on-board

In a recent article in the T&A, Sports Minister Gerry Sutcliffe MP was speaking about the stalled Westfield development and about Cross-Rail:

Can we look at engineering solutions and see what can be done? Is it possible to make Crossrail happen?

“The weight of opinion at the moment means it’s a good time to clear the decks. One of the criticisms of Bradford is that there is no list of priorities.”

Following our meeting on Monday 7th September 2009, Cross Rail is certain on our list of priorities!
